I.T. Presents The Bunker at Tangent Gallery
I.T. Presents The Bunker at Tangent Gallery 715 Milwaukee Avenue 21, 10p-6a
In 2016, The Bunker and Interdimensional Transmissions started a new tradition of throwing The Bunker on Memorial Day at Tangent Gallery. This is a long standing collaborative team, with The Bunker and I.T. co-producing 24 (!!!) editions of No Way Back in Detroit and Brooklyn together since 2010. The Bunker is an ongoing night of musical exploration, constantly evolving since it started in the tiny basement of (sub)Tonic in January of 2003, growing into an international music institution. The Bunker will once again be the last 8 of 32 hours of continuous music that starts with No Way Back at Return to the Source at Tangent Gallery. We’re embracing the concept of collaboration by featuring a series of specially curated DJ pairings for this Monday night wind down.
Years ago, we named The Dance Room after Mike Huckaby’s infamous greeting whenever he picked up the phone at Record Time, and the name will stay in honor of our fallen hero and brother. This stage has become known for presenting sets that push the limits of where electronic music is moving towards each year, and 2025 will be no different.
Opening the room we have an intercontinental pairing of Tokyo’s Haruka and Detroit’s own Craig Gonzalez. Back in 2023, these two were booked to play on the same Bunker lineup at Good Room in Brooklyn. They decided to close the room with a completely off the cuff b2b that pulled the entire party into their room and blew everyone’s heads off with their spontaneous futuristic take on techno. Then, for the first time ever, we have The Bunker and I.T.’s own Derek Plaslaiko collaborating with Berlin’s intergalactic mermaid GiGi FM. Both of these artists completely light up whatever dancefloor they are blessing with incredibly high energy, and we can’t wait to see what kind of devious fun unfolds here. Closing The Dance Room will be a highly anticipated set from superstar international DJs CCL and Objekt. These two truly know no boundaries when it comes to genre, tempo, era, and any other cage you try to put them into. We are ready to transcend with them!
The Gallery of Tangent will once again be transformed into the Going In Room. Going In is a sub-label of The Bunker New York, dedicated to long-form musical compositions geared towards healing, meditation, plant medicine ceremonies, psychedelic therapy, yoga, or simply spacing out and going inside yourself. This room is intended as a space to relax and integrate a heavy weekend as we slowly land the spaceship that is Return to the Source. There will be plenty of seating and the amazing sound system RTTS is known for, so sprawl out with your friends and take it easy.
Opening the room is France’s Laura BCR, who is head honcho at On Board Music, collaborating with The Bunker and Going In’s founder Bryan Kasenic. Then we have The Bunker and I.T.’s Patrick Russell teaming up with Berlin’s Sarah Wreath, who released her debut album on The Bunker in 2024. Patrick has a stellar remix on Sarah’s LP, and the two of them did a deep listening show on The Lot Radio when Sarah was in Brooklyn to play The Bunker in the fall. Closing the room for the first time ever will be I.T.’s Erika and Munich’s Polygonia. These two are sure to travel to uncharted territory as they bring the room and RTTS to a close.
The party would no longer feel complete without the palpably electric vibe of the third stage. The Garden Stage, in the outdoor area, will feature collaborative sets from familiar faces both old and new from The Bunker universe. This stage starts immediately following Lot Mass at 10pm.
Opening the stage will be The Carry Nation’s Nita Aviance and NYC native Kilopatrah Jones. Both of these DJs have very deep crates and we’re expecting them to turn it with a set that incorporates everything from Sound Factory cuts to future classics. Taking over from there are absolute legends Lakuti and Tama Sumo. Known for their regular sets at Panorama Bar, Freerotation, and just about every dancefloor that matters in North America, we can’t wait to welcome them to Return to the Source for the first time. Closing the stage we have a much anticipated set from Mike Servito and JADALAREIGN, who’ve collaborated a few times over the past year after deeply admiring each other’s work for quite some time. This will be the first time that two artists who’ve played on this stage in other pairings will join forces. And after last year’s closing set from Servito and Jeffrey Sfire organically extended from its 2 hour scheduled time to 5 hours, truly anything could happen here.
Return to the Source 2025 is an organic evolution of the original concept, with careful attention to detail put in at every level. We’ve used this time to improve ourselves and our infrastructure, to mindfully choose what it is we want to do and share with our community. Our weekend at the Tangent includes 4 parties for the price of one weekend wristband, with an outdoor area containing a harm reduction zone, food truck, and a greater outdoor sound system. Once the music starts at No Way Back on Sunday night, it won't end until Tuesday morning — 32 hours of continuous music. A weekend wristband will allow you to experience all this with no interruptions.
