On Friday June 13, The Bunker returns to The Chocolate Factory with a lineup of legendary artists from our own roster.
While many DJs approach genre adventurously, few are as expansive and unique as CCL. With an incisive, technical and creative approach to mixing, and a ravenous appetite for music of all kinds, they can unite the unimaginable with a uniquely adaptable sense of dancefloor intuition. Drawing from experiences as a talent buyer, DIY festival organizer, and record collector with roots in Bristol and the DIY scenes of North America, CCL’s perspective draws from an affinity for fluidity and liminality – they weave together distinct narratives that open rhythmic wormholes between geographical regions, eras, and all genres and tempos. From their acclaimed club and festival sets, mixtapes, their liquidtime series, and their residency at Berlin institution Ohm, they showcase their unique take on sonic storytelling and otherworldly dancefloor intuition, uniting dance floors and chat rooms around the world. “A music nerd's DJ but also a DJ’s DJ”- Resident Advisor’s “Art of DJing”.
Opening the night will be Majorettes, a trio of Nita Aviance & Will Automagic of The Carry Nation, plus Justin Cudmore, all three of whom were drummers in high school marching band! Coming out of Covid, the three artists started working together to self-release their own productions on a new imprint, Major Records. The label’s earliest releases caught the ear of many artists we know and love, including Mike Servito. When the global artistic community of the queer underground started submitting tracks, Mike jumped in as A&R to help manage the flood of submissions. Major Records stepped up the release schedule and an incredible group effort fully sprung into action, signing new music and artists, commissioning remixes and contributing to the greater dance stratosphere. Major Records has put out 29 releases in just four years. The Majorettes have only appeared once before, at The Bunker 19 Year Anniversary back in 2022, which packed out the Bad Room more than we’ve ever seen before or since and we are so excited to have them back in a larger space so we can all stretch out a bit.
Closing the night will be a special b2b set from JADALAREIGN and Mike Servito. When two artists with such a high level of skill and wide-ranging taste have a great time playing together and revel in the surprise and joy of their skill, we get to glimpse the outer limits of DJing as an art form. Mike and Jada have blessed us with a few unforgettable sets together this year, including a remarkable afternoon at the Nowadays Nonstop on New Year’s Day that had the dancers actually screaming. This appearance at Bunker will come fresh off of their collaborative set to close out The Garden Stage at Interdimensional Transmissions presents The Bunker in Detroit, which will serve as the last set for the entire Return to the Source festival at Tangent Gallery.
