The Bunker presents Cassy and Jan Krueger at Public Assembly

The Bunker presents Cassy and Jan Krueger at Public Assembly
70 North 6th Street
21+, 10p-6a
$20

For tonight's special edition of The Bunker, we are going back to our roots a bit. Unlike our recent two room extravaganzas, we'll only be using the back room, and we'll only have two DJs playing the entire 8 hours. There is a high probability that this event will reach capacity, so we recommend early arrival to guarantee admission.

Cassy (real name Catherine Britton) was born in Kingston Upon-Thames, England to a Caribbean father and an Austrian mother. She moved to Austria as a child and then back to England as a young adult, performing stints as a singer and actress. While living in Austria, Cassy was exposed to a diverse, high-quality electronic music scene, which offered everything from trance and techno to the eclectic sounds of artists like Kruder and Dorfmeister. This exposure spawned Cassy's passion for electronic music and eventually led her to begin a career as a DJ and producer. In 2003, Cassy moved to Berlin and proceeded to build a reputation as a talented house and minimal DJ. Among other accomplishments, she secured a residency at Panoramabar and had the honor of mixing the first Panoramabar compilation. She has collaborated with artists like Steve Bug, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, DJ Elin (aka Autorepeat), Dave the Hustler, Mathew Jonson, and Swayzak. Her tracks and remixes have been released on labels like M_nus, Playhouse, Get Physical, Perlon, Dessous, and Mental Groove. She has also started the label "Cassy", where she has currently released two records, to serve as a vehicle for releasing her own music. While Cassy has achieved much as an electronic music DJ and producer, her achievements alone do not reveal the depth of her artistry. Cassy played an amazing set for us at the House-N-Home Detroit edition, and has slayed every party we've seen her play at. Tonight she plays an extended set with old friend Jan Krueger.

Jan Krueger has been involved in the German techno scene since the mid-90's, doing everything from DJing, to throwing parties, to a recent stint as sales manager at the highly respected distributor Word and Sound. He recently left Word and Sound to focus on his DJ career and Hello?Repeat, the label he started with Daze Maxim. Jan has already made quite a name for himself in Berlin, appearing regularly at Watergate, Panorama Bar, and Club Der Visionäre. His rise to fame in North America has happened incredibly quickly. His first North American gigs were in Detroit during last year's festival weekend at the Need I Say More 3 afterparty at the Old Miami, and the Accelerate closing party at The Works on Monday. He made quite an impression at both gigs, and kinda stole the show from bigger name DJ's. He's completely torn the roof off of The Bunker all five times he's appeared since then, and has become a Bunker resident DJ.
