When we arrived a day early in Montreal for Mutek in June, we weren't sure what to do. We called a friend who told us we should check out this weekly party called "Dizzy" at Le Salon Daome. We were completely blown away by the vibe of this party. Excellent tunes all night from resident DJs Vince Lemieux and MightyKat, great cheap drinks, and more beautiful, friendly, dancing people than we've ever seen at a techno party. We can't import the whole club, but we're doing our best by bringing the resident DJs to the Bunker.
Dominique Thibault aka DJ MightyKat is one of the most successful DJs and party promoters in Montreal. She started DJing in 1998 and released a well-received mix CD on Hautec two years later. In addition to Dizzy, she holds down residencies in Mexico and Montreal's Circus Afterhours club. She is an excellent DJ, weaving together many shades of funky minimal dance music.
Vince Lemieux could very well be our favorite person from Montreal (and there are tons of great people up there). He was the really tall guy with the moustache who DJed from 12 to 2 upstairs at Mini-Mutek and had the whole room going nuts. He runs Musique Risquee with Akufen and is an incredible DJ.
