DJ Nobu has long been Japan's best kept secret, but lately it feels like the cat is well out of the bag as his global touring schedule fills up for 2016. Nobu has been producing the legendary Future Terror parties in Japan since 2001 and launched his Bitta label in 2012. More than anything though, he is known for his completely unpredictable yet always mind-melting DJ sets. We were completely floored by both his prime-time set at The Bunker in Tokyo and his opening set at The Bunker in Osaka in September, 2015. He will be playing the closing set of The Bunker NY takeover of Berghain in February. Few DJs demonstrate the depth of vision that seems to come naturally to Nobu. Check out some of his podcast and you'll see what we mean. We are thrilled to welcome Nobu to close out The Bunker for his debut North American appearance!
Patrick Russell is a true veteran of the US underground, perhaps one of the last unsung heroes of a now lost era in the Midwest. A genuine sonic storyteller, he magically transforms the diaspora of acid, IDM, and pure jack energy into a deep, fluent sonic dialog that never fails to devastate both minds and dance floor.
A Detroit-bred DJ, artist and producer active since the early 90's, Patrick has now made New York City his home. Perhaps best known as a key figure in the legendary No Way Back parties, his ability to weave intensely unique, long-format narratives has earned him critical acclaim for his recent appearance at Berghain, not to mention featured spots at festivals such as Japan’s famed Labyrinth, Unsound, and his numerous appearances at DEMF/Movement. Patrick has also been steadily building a strong catalog of high-profile productions to compliment his increasingly varied, hypnotic, and in-demand DJ sets; his upcoming 3-track remix EP on The Bunker New York also marks his induction as an official resident DJ at the long-running Brooklyn party.
His consummate taste and disciplined execution have created a respect that cannot be purchased. Patrick Russell is not just a name to watch, he is someone to be experienced.
For the next edition of The Bunker, we return to MARKET HOTEL. You know the deal by now: we maintain a dark outlaw vibe in a comfortable and legal space. Wood dance floor, full lighting install by Kip, and a big sound rig from SubBass.
Sometimes, a lineup is very simple and straightforward. We’ve booked two of the world’s best mind-control music DJs to take you on a journey in one of our favorite spaces.
It’s always a joy to host DJ NOBU at The Bunker (he was a part of our showcases in Tokyo in 2015 and 2016, closed Berghain at The Bunker label night there in 2016, and made his US debut at The Bunker in 2016). His ascendance from a hero in Japan to a superstar appearing on key festival and club stages worldwide feels complete at this point and we’re very excited to share that he’ll be playing one of his mind melting closing sets.
Straight off of his Japan tour where he played Rural Festival, our resident PATRICK RUSSELL will launch this spaceship as only he can.
