SHXCXCHCXSH is a shadowy Swedish techno duo we don't really know much background info about (hell, we have NO IDEA how to even pronounce their artist name). We do know that we are giant fans of their music and jumped at the chance to present the North American debut of their live hardware techno set. If you know their music, you're already coming to this party. If not, check out their music, and then join the party.
Upon moving to Milan to study in 1997, Massimiliano Pagliara (Massi for short) embarked on an academic career, eventually earning his diploma in theater-dance and choreography at the Scuola d’ Arte Drammatica “Paolo Grassi” in 2001. During this time, he discovered experimental electronic music by Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, Autechre, and Mira Calix which left a profound impression on him. He integrated this new love of techno into his own original choreography. When Massi moved to Berlin and in 2003, he began pursuing DJing with a passion. Since then he has deejayed at some of the most popular underground venues in Berlin and in Germany, such as Berghain/Panorama Bar, Cocktail d'Amore, Tresor, Wilde Renate, About Blank, Club 103, Robert Johnson (Frankfurt) and in France, Italy, Denmark, Portugal, Belgium, Switzerland, UK, Sweden, Norway and Israel. DJing has since led to production and his current obsession with analog synths run wild. You can usually find him holed up in his home studio working on his latest productions. But he’s not always alone... Massi has since been collaborating with luminaries around town such as Gui.Tar, Snax, Daniel Wang and Discodromo to name a few. Since late 2010 he´s also been collaborating with Rotciv (Brazil) and together they started a new project called "The Rimshooters" and more recently collaborates with nd_baumecker as a dj outfit called Drei Fragezeichen. Expect exceptional Italo, dubby synthy techno and house music that includes both modern and classic elements.
Mark Verbos will be playing one of his infamous slow burning acid house sets on nothing more than a collection of Roland machines, a Space Echo, some of his Verbos Electronics modular gear, and a mixer. He has brought down the house at The Bunker many times with these sets over the years, and tonight should be no different. Mark just brought the house down at Berghain, and will also be playing live at Interdimensional Transmission & The Bunker's infamous No Way Back party in Detroit this year. He's dropping a record on The Bunker New York in late June, stay tuned for more info on that.
Løt.te is Mehmet Irdel, a Turkish-born artist who has been a friend of The Bunker for a long time. He’s currently based in Brooklyn, where he co-runs Rote Productions, a company that releases music, graphic works, video compositions, and photography, and takes a strong stance against the concept of intellectual property.
Irdel’s early work consisted of soundscapes, noise, and power electronics. Now, he’s trying his hand at techno, with incredible results. The music of Løt.te is far more intricate than the looser, darker work he’s known for under Rote Productions. The Løt.te project favors a more natural, analog feel; Irdel was disillusioned with the recognizably digital sound of computers and software that’s so prevalent in current electronic music.
Irdel is also a prolific visual artist and designer, in addition to his work as a producer; he creates most of the graphic design and artwork for Rote Productions, and his art inspires his music.
His second EP on The Bunker New York just dropped.
While shopping for vinyl at a record store, Ryan Smith met Ron Like Hell, a veteran DJ of 19 years. Both excited to meet another like-minded gay individual appreciative of timeless music, they were inspired to work on a project together. They really came into their own when they launched Wrecked as a monthly doors open at midnight party at National Underground, which was an immediate success. They've made it their mission to book solid underground talent to express the changing tides in the gay underground. Their sound has taken them to the dance floors of Berlin to San Francisco and The Black Party to 718 Sessions. On their own, Ron works for Academy Records and produces Classic Album Sundays NYC and Ryan works as an agent at the Windish Agency. For the past couple of years, Wrecked has become a regular part of the lineups at The Bunker, shining bright as both openers and in prime time slots.
Nihal Ramchandani is a regular at The Bunker who has joined us a few times behind the decks and blown the room apart every time. He's moving back to NYC and will be closing out the party tonight.
The Bunker and Wrecked team up once again, this time at Good Room. In the Good Room, The Bunker presents a heavy night of techno, celebrating the release of EPs on The Bunker New York from both Løt.te and Mark Verbos. Sweden's shadowy SHXCXCHCXSH joins us for the North American debut of their live hardware techno set, and we welcome Nihal Ramchandani back into the fold. Wrecked will hold things down in the Bad Room with Italian Massimiliano Pagliara, who we've been trying to bring to NYC for a long time.
