The Bunker with Luke Slater, Optimo, Prosumer at Output / The Panther Room 74 Wythe Avenue 21+, 10p-6a
$20 advance
We had pretty high expectations when Luke Slater (aka Planetary Assualt Systems, L.B. Dub Corp, The 7th Plain) play at The Bunker for the first time in September, and he completely surpassed them. We immediately got to rebooking him for a more extended set, and that's what you get tonight: Luke stretching out for a 4 hour set that will incorporate everything from his more abstract experiments to his crushing peak time bangers. In the mid-to-late 90s, the release of each Planetary Assault System 12" on Peacefrog was an event worth celebrating. In recent years, with the launch of his own Mote Evolver imprint and release of two brand new P.A.S. albums on Ostgut Ton, Luke is firmly back in the techno spotlight.
Although they have many accomplishments, JD Twitch and JG Wilkes, aka Optimo, are best know for their weekly Sunday party at Sub Club in Glasgow. The event started in 1997 and ended in April 2010. Over 12+ years, the Optimo DJs stuck to an extremely diverse playlist while introducing an incredibly wide variety of guest artists. If there is anything Optimo are known for, it's taking chances. We've been fans for a long time, but it was after tuning into the live seven hour stream from Optimogeddon, their final night at Sub Club, that we knew they would be the perfect DJs to play an extended set at The Bunker. We invited Optimo to play all night in the front room of Public Assembly twice, and both times they delivered, finishing with the room still absolutely packed when the lights came on. Tonight they try something different, with a 4 hour set opening for Luke Slater, which should give them plenty of time to stretch out and show off their super deep crates.

Although he has slowly released a stream of amazing 12"s and even an album on Ostgut Ton with Murat Tepeli, he is more well known for his stunning DJ sets than anything. Prosumer simply GETS the art of DJing in a way that very few people ever have or will. Expect a skillful, emotional, perfectly programmed set full of some of the best dance music you've ever heard. He's the kind of guy who will expertly read the crowd and give the party exactly what it needs at any given moment. Prosumer has become a fan favorite at The Bunker, and tonight will be his eighth appearance behind our decks.
PROSUMER SOUNDCLOUDMike Servito is from a very special yet temporary and partially lost fertile crescent of techno / house / party DJing. It was a time when raves were still a fresh idea, almost felt like a revolution, and DJs like Claude Young, D Wynn, Derrick Carter and Mike Huckaby were informing an upcoming generation. If you look directly to that inspired generation you will find the lost threads of Detroit Techno, House and beyond, you will find a group of DJs with insanely deep mixing skills, the ability to rock almost any kind of party with an improvisational approach that is so skilled it makes everything seem so well thought out that even they don't know where their set will go. But, it will take you there! In the future, this special generation of deep midwest mixers will be remembered and revered as the wizards they are, long after the trendy players have lost their luster.
Detroit never forgot about Mike Servito, his upfront dirty deep and bitchy taste has had an impact on Detroit nightlife for over a decade. From debuting in 1995 at Dat's Poorboy parties, to being a resident at blackbx and Ghostly's Untitled (along with Derek Plaslaiko, Tadd Mullinix, Matthew Dear, and Ryan Elliott), contributing to the bizarrely popular, wild and free Dorkwave, and progressing that concept into Sass (the hippest queer party in Detroit at the time), to blowing minds at Interdimensional Transmissions' No Way Back parties, Servito has made his impression. Moving to Brooklyn, Detroit's loss has been their gain, as he has found a proper home with a new residency at the Bunker, and worldwide representation from Beyond Booking.

Both excited to meet another like-minded gay individual into timeless musical sounds, past and present, they were inspired to work on a project together. They really came into their own when they launched the Wrecked monthly at National Underground, which was an immediate success. They've made it their mission to book solid underground talent to express the changing tides in the gay underground. Currently, Ron is working on music and remixes while Ryan is working on a label, Discaire Records, with 3 other gents while working as a booking agent. The duo is always cooking up some exciting new projects and surprises. For the past few months, these guys have become a regular part of our lineups at The Bunker, shining bright as both openers and in more prime time slots.
