The Bunker presents DJ C, Ripley, Dave Stelfox, Soldiers Of Fortune, and Fireball at subTonic
$5
Ripley left NYC for SF in July, and we've really missed her amazing mash-up DJ style, incorporating hip-hop, jungle, ragga, breakcore, 2step, and all the really good stuff that falls between the cracks. She recently released her outstanding debut mix CD on Deathsucker. DJ C is an old friend of the Bunker and DJ Ripley. His style complements Ripley's so well that they played their way across Europe (with Bunker pal Kid Kameleon) last summer. He has had much success with sizzling ragga jungle relases on his Mashit label, and has recently launched sister label Beat Research for non-jungle experiments. Dave Stelfox from London opens the night with some dancehall and ragga. Dave is a music writer with deep crates and great taste. Check out his blog for some awesome dancehall/reggaeton mixes. Note that subTonic is once again fully functional with flushing toilets! Soliders of Fortune is a rare combination of psychedelic wonderfulness and pure raw rock, featuring Kid Millions of Oneida, Brad Truax of Home and Jah Division, Papa Crazee of Oakley Hall, and extra special allstars we don't know about yet. Last time they played Tonic it was one of the best shows we've ever seen. Fireball is a brand-spanking-new all girl psych band with members of The Ospreys and other local favorites. They've just started this project and by all accounts it is not to be missed. Brooklyn's very own Mighty Robot A/V squad from the infamous Mighty Robot space in Williamsburg will be bringing their visual magic for the occasion. Tonight's upstairs show is a Tonic benefit, with all door and bar money donated to the venue.
