The FoundSound crew made a brilliant introduction to the world with FoundSound 001, a 12" by Miskate and Someone Else that has been on everyone from Richie Hawtin's to John Peel's heavy rotation. They are currently the US's best answer to all of the amazing bleepy minimal funk that has been streaming out of Germany for the past few years. Someone Else even managed to put out a 12" on Robag Wrhume's Musik Krause label, which is all the rage these days. Tonight is their NYC record release party for FoundSound 002, a solo effort from Miskate. You can find an mp3 of Someone Else's most excellent live pa at the last FoundSound night at the Bunker in the downloads section of their webpage: http://www.foundsoundrecords.com/ We like to think of Sightings as a) one of the best live bands in new york city, b) a sneeky combination of techno, rock and other things, and c) hard working fire cracking drumming madness with innovative vocals and crushing guitars. They sweat. It's sexy. We are lucky to catch them after a long tour in europe and hope you catch them too. We've known Doily for a long time and she just keeps getting better. After several releaeses on her own label (Broklyn Beats, shared with Criterion) she's wandered through sample cut dub and ambient textures to an all out rootsy techno breakcore assault worthy of any audience. It's ecclectic electronics, heavy, chunky, and very danceable.
