We were very saddened when Dub Trio had to cancel on us a few months back, and we're thrilled to have them rebooked for another Bunker dub session. Dub Trio have quickly become on of our favorite live NYC bands. These guys have serious chops, and are incredibly talented. What really sets them apart is that in addition to playing guitar, drums, and bass, they each control an arsenal of effects and electronics. If you close your eyes during their set, you'll think you're hearing an amazing jamaican dub record meticulously constructed with tons of post production effects. The fact that they can pull it off live with no soundbwoy is astounding. Jaws are routinely on the floor by the end of their sets, and they really have to be seen to be believed. Dub is a Weapon is a live dub band featuring members of Antibalas, Stubborn All-Stars and the Gil Scott Heron Band. They are fearless militant dub warriors who have appeared in many soundclashes throughout NYC over the past couple of years. Here's what some other people say about them: "A sprawling supergroup that combines the spacey atmospherics of dub with the brassy big-band soul of African pop" (New York Magazine). "Drum and bass coming so hard and dangerous you can see the competition's bloodstains" (Village Voice). Secret Agent Gel is a good friend and talented electronic musician (follow the link to his website for some sounds). He is the man behind thekidsarebored.com and the much respected F:T:H party at Remote. Unlike many laptop performers, Gel actually has a sense of humor that he manages to work into his entertaining sets. On top of all of this, he has been very good to the Bunker, helping us to distribute our flyers and such. Sally Kismet is still somewhat of a mystery to us. She just showed up to our party one week and danced all night, and has been a regular ever since. We got really excited when we found out she was a DJ, because all of the best DJ's know how to shake it on the dancefloor (just makes sense, doesn't it?). Her mix CD is a seamless blend of many styles, from downtempo breaks through classic acid trax.
