Born and raised in Brooklyn, but currently residing in Berlin, Adam X is a pioneering DJ and producer who helped ushef the era of techno into early 1990's NYC, both as a performer and a co-owner of the legendary Sonic Groove Records shop. One of the first American techno artists to break into the German scene of that era, he has since became globally recognized for his productions and DJing
After over a decade of friendship between Adam and The Bunker, his recent output continues to blow our minds. From his deeply hallucinogenic sci-fi techno project "Traversable Wormhole" to his ADMX-71 alias under which he released his 2009 debut album “Luminous Vapors” on legendary Industrial/Experimental label Hands Productions to his ADMX-71 releases on Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S. label and his X-Crashed aliases "Where Were You In ’92" EP on Anthony Parasole’s The Corner label, as well as his recent releases under his own Adam X moniker on Sonic Groove.
We can't wait to experience one of Adam X's legendary hometown sets in all their dystopian glory.
Dasha Rush is Russian born, but actually she is a citizen of the world, maybe by chance. She likes to combine music with other elements to push the boundaries to the limit, searching for the experimentation. In her strange and twisted world the machines are the protagonists of a neo-romanticism, weaved with human dreams. Dasha runs her label Fullpanda Records, the sub label Hunger To Create.
One of the most highly respected acts in both techno and industrial circles, Orphx have been developing their signature fusion of hypnotic rhythms and experimental noise for over twenty years. Using modular and analog synthesizers, software, location recordings and feedback circuits, Rich Oddie and Christina Sealey draw upon the darker, psychedelic fringes of techno and electro, and combine these elements with the experimental aesthetics and themes of early industrial music.
Orphx gained an international following as one of the pioneering acts within the European ‘rhythmic noise’ scene and more recently came to the attention of techno fans through a series of acclaimed 12"s on Adam X’s Sonic Groove label, along with standout remixes for artists like Perc, Oscar Mulero and Svreca.
Oddie and Sealey have performed throughout Europe and North America at celebrated venues like Berghain and Tresor as well as notable electronic music festivals such as Movement and Mutek. Their live appearances are renowned for delivering improvised performances that combine software with modular synthesizer and other hardware.
Orphx have released nine full length albums and numerous singles on vinyl, CD and cassette that have had a significant influence on many artists in the present wave of industrial techno. Building on a sprawling back catalogue that stretches across the divisions between industrial, ambient and techno, their recent output has demonstrated that Orphx are both pioneers and innovators in the fusion of rhythm and noise.
Patrick Russell is a true veteran of the US underground, perhaps one of the last unsung heroes of a now lost era in the Midwest. A genuine sonic storyteller, he magically transforms the diaspora of acid, IDM, and pure jack energy into a deep, fluent sonic dialog that never fails to devastate both minds and dance floor.
A Detroit-bred DJ, artist and producer active since the early 90's, Patrick has now made New York City his home. Perhaps best known as a key figure in the legendary No Way Back parties, his ability to weave intensely unique, long-format narratives has earned him critical acclaim for his recent appearance at Berghain, not to mention featured spots at festivals such as Japan’s famed Labyrinth, Unsound, and his numerous appearances at DEMF/Movement. Patrick has also been steadily building a strong catalog of high-profile productions to compliment his increasingly varied, hypnotic, and in-demand DJ sets; his upcoming 3-track remix EP on The Bunker New York also marks his induction as an official resident DJ at the long-running Brooklyn party.
His consummate taste and disciplined execution have created a respect that cannot be purchased. Patrick Russell is not just a name to watch, he is someone to be experienced.
After over a decade of friendship, Bryan Kasenic and Adam X are teaming up to present a Sonic Groove label night at The Bunker.
