When Airdrop was founded in 2006, the labels' mission was clear: to drop some delectable, danceable high quality releases produced by cutting-edge audio and visual artists, new talents and established musicians from all around the globe - with no delay. In 2008, they released a ton of digital and vinyl releases from artists like Dilo, Gurtz, Franco Cinelli, Soul Clap, and many more, and show no signs of slowing down. We've been discussing a collaborative party with Airdrop for some time now, and we finally do it tonight to celebrate the soon to be released Soul Clap's "Puppycrack" EP, which features a remix by Mikael Stavöstrand.

Mikael Stavöstrand is no stranger to electronic music. He was producing experimental and industrial music throughout the '90s as Inanna. In 2001, he became a leader of the outsider minimal techno sound when he released his debut album on Force Inc under his own name. Since then, he has been releasing killer 12"s on a slew of friends' and collaboratos' labels, such as Dapayk's Mo's Ferry, Patrik Skoog's We Are, [a]pendics.shuffle's Adjunct, Jay Haze's Contexterrior, as well as NYC label Thema and of course Airdrop. While many artists in minimal techno seem content to follow the latest trends and use the same plug-ins to produce predictable, unchallenging music, Mikael has always been a leader, pushing forward new sounds and ideas that really stand out from the pack. He played one of the best live set we've ever heard at The Bunker in October of '07, which never became a podcast only because the recorder wasn't set up properly! We're super excited to hear how the set has evolved over the past year.
