Portable has been making mind bending minimal dance music (imagine early jacking Chicago house merged with tribal African rhythms) since 1994. He grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and moved to the UK in 1997. His unique sound turned many heads at the Mutek festival in Montreal earlier this year. Tonight's set will be his first ever NYC performance. Brad (aka BLT) looks, lives, beathes, exists in a permanent state of musicality. He has slaved in record stores maybe his whole working life, played in dozens of bands, and toured with everyone from The Fall to Grand Daddy to Alternative TV. It should be no suprise that he has a sick record collection of all things rock, psych, garage, indie, hip hop, country, folk, and electronic music from every epoch. We have no idea what he will play but it's destined to be outstanding. We've never met him but our florida friends at free 103 and beyond assure us of his high quality selections. We got some CDs in the mail not so long ago and Spinoza and kleverVice found themselves drooling over the quality of mixing such beautiful and eclectic music. Screw genres. Be free and tell a story. Up down and all around. Rick Loose is a master at this.
