Tonight sees the return of two of our favorite NYC characters/DJs. We got to see $mall ¢hange in action at the record shops in Montreal when we were up there for Mutek. Dude is completely insane ... he just takes over the store (trusty portable turntable in hand) by stacking records all over the place, making it impossible for anyone else to shop. Of course, he uses his encyclopedic knowledge of all things funky to pick out all the gems. He literally brought back hundreds of records from one weekend of shopping ... maybe we'll get to hear some tonight, or maybe he'll just pull stuff from his vast collection. He's always very eclectic and he never plays anything but incredible records. What can we say about Porkchop that hasn't already been said? He has an AMAZING collection of disco trax ... stuff you would have heard in the darker side of Larry Levan's infamous Paradise Garage sets. He's also a member of local improv/noise heroes Excepter, and the renegade Black Label artpunkbike crew. Truly one of the best DJs and all around most interesting people in this fine city of ours. Also, tonight we say farewell to Bunker pal Secret Agent Gel, who is moving to State College for a couple years. Please buy him some drinks.
